Your Child Is In Great Hands

About us

Good Foundations is a charity-run nursery located in Carlton, where we take great pride in providing each child with the highest quality learning experiences in a stimulating and welcoming environment.

At Good Foundations, our primary focus is to ensure that children thrive through play in a friendly and positive atmosphere. We have four dedicated rooms, each tailored to different age groups, offering activities that are engaging and suitable for every child’s development.

Our passionate staff work closely with both children and parents to guarantee that each child receives the best possible learning experience, preparing them for their transition to school.

Good Foundations is a place where children can socialise with friends, create lasting memories, and explore diverse ways of learning together.

Background

Good Foundations Day Nursery opened its doors on 24th October 1995 and accommodates up to 72 children aged between 6 weeks and 4 years. We are OFSTED registered, and all our staff have undergone police checks by the DBS. Our dedicated team has a wealth of experience, with many staff members trained in paediatric first aid. The nursery fosters a warm, welcoming atmosphere that helps children settle in comfortably. Parents can feel confident and at ease, knowing their children are receiving the highest quality of care.

Aims

We strive to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child can reach their full potential. Our friendly and highly trained staff are dedicated to fostering a fun and loving atmosphere for all children.

Learning and development

We offer a play-based curriculum that meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, a statutory obligation for all OFSTED-registered settings. Play is vital for helping children understand the world around them and supports their overall development. We carefully observe each child's progress and tailor our curriculum to reflect their individual interests. Our routines are flexible to accommodate the diverse needs of the children. Your child will be encouraged to make choices, fostering their independence while also participating in structured activities.

Partnership with Parent/Carers

We believe that parents and carers are the primary educators of their children and should play a central role in their child’s experiences and development. We aim to work in partnership with you, ensuring you are satisfied with our practices and approach. Your feedback and suggestions are always welcome, and we provide a feedback form on our website that can be filled out anonymously if preferred, sending us an email or speaking to the Manager. Each child is assigned a key person who will monitor their development, and parents and carers are encouraged to arrange meetings with their child's key worker to discuss progress. Additionally, parents and carers can contribute to their child's development through the Blossom app. To do this, simply click on ‘Journey’ and select ‘Home Observations’ to add your insights.

Equality of opportunity

At our nursery, we warmly welcome all children and families, creating an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. We tailor our activities to meet the individual needs and interests of each child, ensuring that every experience is engaging and relevant. Children are encouraged to grow and develop at their own pace, receiving plenty of praise and support to boost their confidence and self-esteem.

We also take great joy in celebrating the diverse festivals that reflect our multicultural society, providing children with the opportunity to learn about and appreciate different cultures and traditions. These celebrations not only enrich their understanding of the world but also foster a sense of community and belonging within our nursery.
